Sigma Catalyst Partners is a private partnership specializing in arranging investment opportunities for international investors interested in Greece and the SEE region. Our main focus is food & agri, hospitality and manufacturing SMEs in need of expansion or restructuring capital. We also selectively assist our partners in arranging project & infrastructure finance and M&A – strategic advisory.
Our core team is based in Athens however we maintain trusted partnerships with law and finance professionals in the Balkan region and thus are able to source transactions in SEE.
Local knowledge – International partnerships
Our team has a combined experience of over 40 years with international corporations, investment advisors and state owned organizations in structuring and executing finance and business development projects. Our track record and approach ensures pragmatic advisory combined with hands-on execution support.
Furthermore, we cooperate with experts in our focus areas (e.g. operational turnarounds, project finance) to provide custom advisory services in addition to access to international capital.
Our goal: Matching international investors to suitable local opportunities
Our strategy to partner and work buy-side with international investors, while keeping excellent relationships with the local business and banking community enables us to proactively source and analyze off-market opportunities for specialty investors. We add value to international investors by pre-screening and analyzing local opportunities and offering access and independent advice.
We follow a pragmatic approach to project selection as we recognize that there is no “one size fits all” solution, hence we do not promise everything to everybody. We only undertake assignments, which we have analyzed internally and believe we can deliver and therefore we usually link remuneration with execution results and returns we generate for our investors.
Raising finance for acquisitions and investment projects in today’s challenging environment is complex esp. in SE Europe, where investors often tend to overestimate country risk. Greece is considered as an emerging economy for many international funds in many industry sectors. This translates to business opportunities, as in many interesting projects limited investor interest results to attractive risk adjusted expected returns.
We believe that international investors offering both funding and access to international markets as well as technology expertise can build long term investment cases in the Greek market as well as the regional emerging economies.
