New MSW/PPP project in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace

Following the approval by the PPP of 10/04/2013, the first phase of the competition for the Waste Management of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, with the Municipality of Alexandroupolis acting as contracting authority, is announced.

The Invitation for Expression of Interest has been published and the deadline for the submissions is December 3rd, 2013.

The private partner will be selected through an international public tender through the competitive dialogue procedure and will undertake the design, financing, construction, maintenance and operation of the waste management facilities in the Eastern Macedonia & Thrace Region, for a tenor of 27 years. The facilities will have capacity to process about 155.000 tons of waste/year.

The lowest fee to be paid by the users will constitute the main selection criterion, while meeting all environmental goals. The project will utilize funds provided by the European Union’s structural funds for the co-financing of the construction costs by 40-60%.
