EIB to provide project finance for the Greek waste management project in Western Macedonia

Three binding offers were received for the Western Macedonia (DIADYMA) waste management PPP project. If no objections arise, the project is expected to be assigned to the preferred bidder by February 2013.

The project involves building and operating an integrated waste management facility to treat approx. 120.000 tpa of MSW from the region of Western Macedonia for 27 years. EIB has agreed in principle to provide project financing. Terms and conditions are yet to be defined. It is noted that this is the first Greek project to receive initial approval for project financing from EIB since before the 2009-2010 crisis.
